Freely’s AI Assistant isn’t a chatbot that answers questions — it’s an operator that does the work. Ask it to create an invoice, chase a late payment, build a checkout link, or tell you your cash flow, and it carries out the task and shows you the result as a card you can act on.
You’ll find it on the Assistant page (/agent), in the dashboard chat, and as a floating helper across the app.
“Create an invoice for Acme Co for $2,400, due next Friday.” → done, as a card you can review and send.
How it works
- You ask in plain language — no forms, no menus. “Send a payment reminder to everyone overdue.” “What were my sales last month?”
- The assistant picks the right action — it has ~90 tools covering every part of Freely and chooses the ones that fit.
- It does it, and shows you a card — an invoice card, a payment link, a chart — with buttons to send, edit, or confirm.
- Anything sensitive waits for you — sending emails, taking payments, and refunds surface for approval first (see Approvals & safety).
Specialist agents
Behind the scenes, Freely routes your request to the right specialist so answers are sharp:
| Agent | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Sales | Find products, build carts, recommend, guide checkout |
| Payment / Billing | Invoices, payment links, subscriptions, reminders |
| Support | Orders, refunds, customer questions, policies |
| Insights | Revenue, trends, cash-flow forecasts, business health |
| Creator | Content, product descriptions, campaigns |
| General | Anything else, and routing to the right specialist |
You don’t pick an agent — Freely routes automatically based on what you ask.

Cards, not walls of text {#cards}
When the assistant does something, you get a rich card — an invoice with line items and a Send button, a payment link ready to copy, a revenue chart — not a paragraph to decipher. Act right from the card.
Approvals & safety {#approvals-and-safety}
The assistant is powerful, so it’s bounded:
- Sensitive actions require your OK. Sending client emails, taking payments, and issuing refunds surface for approval before they happen.
- It won’t guess with your money. If a request is ambiguous (e.g. which invoice), it asks rather than assumes.
- Your data is yours. The assistant only ever works within your business — fully isolated from every other merchant.
Bring your own AI
By default the assistant runs on Freely’s built-in AI. Prefer your own? Add your OpenAI or Anthropic API key in Settings → AI API Keys — see How your AI is powered.
